Web Design
“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” — Steve Jobs
This page showcases my work as a Web Content Specialist & Designer, with examples spanning WordPress, Squarespace, and hand-coded projects. I focus on creating user-friendly, visually appealing websites that balance functionality, accessibility, and clear content.
WordPress Examples
IT Technical Program Class Blog
This freebie blog was created as part of my coursework using the free version of WordPress, showcasing my ability to build a functional WordPress site from scratch. It includes multiple blog post assignments that demonstrate content structuring, formatting, and user-friendly navigation.
This project highlights my skills in theme selection, image curation, and content management while keeping the site clean and accessible.
WordPress Group Project: Local Nonprofit - Global Solutions Institute (GSI)
This project was developed as a team assignment, and I served as the team lead. I guided our planning, delegated tasks, and kept everyone moving toward the final deadline, which taught me a lot about communication, being direct, time management, and navigating group dynamics.
Together, we built a WordPress site for a local nonprofit, translating their mission and programs into a polished, professional online presence.
The site demonstrates my ability to work with others, organize information, design visually appealing layouts, and ensure accessibility, all while meeting the needs of the nonprofit and audience.
Hand-Code Website Examples
Hand-Coded Website: Hocott’s Garden Center
Although Hocott’s Garden Center is a real local business, the website shown here is a fully fictional class project created for Mobile Web Design (IFSC 3342) course.
I curated content and imagery to appeal to gardening enthusiasts, eco-conscious consumers, and local businesses interested in landscaping services.
The site’s purpose was to:
increase online visibility
promote landscaping services
build brand identity, educate customers
encourage in-store visits
Throughout the project, I applied CSS Grid, media queries, and responsive design principles to ensure the site worked seamlessly on mobile, tablet, and desktop screens. I also learned the value of iterative development and user feedback—I incorporated insights from a coworker, classmate, and my fiancé to improve spacing, add CTAs, polish the footer, and fix functional issues like the contact form submission.
This project strengthened my skills in wireframing with Figma, organizing design sprints, managing files in VS Code, and balancing aesthetics with usability. Most importantly, it reinforced perseverance: I learned to push past self-doubt, refine my code, and complete a fully functional, user-centered website.
This project was created as a class assignment and is not an official website for Hocott’s Garden Center.
SquareSpace Examples
Real-World Client: B&B Legacy Farms
This Squarespace site was built for B&B Legacy Farms, a project I’ve been working on with Karen — a former colleague and now a dear friend — since 2019.
Together, we’ve collaborated on shaping her brand’s online presence, refining content, and creating a clean, modern website that reflects the heart of her family farm. This project highlights my ability to support real clients with long-term design, messaging, and digital strategy while keeping the site user-friendly and visually cohesive.
Over the years, I’ve supported Karen through several shifts in her business — from product focus to branding updates to refining how B&B Legacy Farms shows up online.
As her goals have evolved, I’ve adapted the site’s structure, content, and design to match.
